will open ``The Prince of Egypt'' on an unprecedented 8,000 to 10,000 screens in 40 countries and in two dozen languages between Dec. 16 and 26 in what's believed to be the widest simultaneous worldwide rollout ever.

number,'' said film industry analyst Tim Baskerville. ``It shows that the world has become a lot more integrated in terms of marketing.''

The largest single market debut for the $80 million project, an animated version of the story of Moses, will come on Dec. 18 in the United States United States, officially United States of America, republic (2005 est. pop. 295,734,000), 3,539,227 sq mi (9,166,598 sq km), North America. The United States is the world's third largest country in population and the fourth largest country in area.  with more than 2,500 theaters. Belgium, France, Germany, Hong Kong Hong Kong (hŏng kŏng), Mandarin Xianggang, special administrative region of China, formerly a British crown colony (2005 est. pop. 6,899,000), land area 422 sq mi (1,092 sq km), adjacent to Guangdong prov. , Hungary, the Netherlands and Singapore will have already opened ``Prince'' by then.

, testing of marketing strategies and reusing prints from the domestic run.

But DreamWorks executives believe the holiday season is the prime time for starting ``Prince of Egypt.'' ``It's the same holiday around the world, so it makes sense to take advantage of that on the international release pattern,'' said distribution head James Tharp.

Early buzz has been positive, particularly since performance by ``Antz,'' DreamWorks' first animated film, has beaten expectations. Seven-week domestic grosses for ``Antz'' have passed $81 million while its foreign take has topped $24 million.

Baskerville noted the gap between domestic and foreign start dates has been narrowing due to growing worldwide interest in entertainment. ``Tomorrow Never Dies'' and ``Titanic'' saw particularly quick foreign rollouts last December.

Four-year-old DreamWorks does not have a foreign distribution arm. UIP UIP Usual interstitial pneumonia, see there , a Paramount-Universal-MGM joint venture, is handling ``Prince'' overseas.
