), this.com, today welcomed President Clinton's unveiling of a new advertising campaign urging parents to talk to their children about violence but voiced concern over the danger of ignoring the impact of computers and the Internet on children's lives.

"Although I welcome President Clinton's comments on the need to protect our children, I would like to see him go further and identify the need to shield kids from the pornography pornography

, hate and violence that permeates the Internet today," said Brad Daniel. "Many children spend more time on the Internet than watching television; and as long as children have access to a computer either at home or at school, there is always the danger of them accessing indecent material -- material that you would never see on television. Young people are extremely vulnerable to dangerous influences on the Internet; and online outlets should be taken just as seriously as television, movies and other mediums which are better protected."

The comments come as President Clinton today (Tuesday, August 17th) introduced an advertising campaign urging parents to talk to their children about violence. The school violence television messages, to debut Wednesday on major broadcast and cable networks, will also promote a booklet on how parents should talk to children about safety and the dangers of weapons.
