Animal control officers raided 39-year-old Hammond's home and found 13 cats, three dogs and the carcass carcass, carcase

Hammond was arrested, spent two days in jail and was charged with one felony count and 10 misdemeanor counts of animal cruelty, Evans said.

``She is what we call `an animal collector,' '' Evans said. ``She lived a normal life, but her feelings toward animals were that it was better to keep them in wretched conditions than to have them go to Animal Control and risk having them euthanized,'' he said. ``She had a warped sense of being humane.''

Hammond's defense attorney, Clifton Davis Clifton Duncan Davis (born October 4, 1945) is an American actor who has appeared on television shows such as A World Apart (playing Matt Hampton) and That's My Mama (on which he had the lead role) in the 1970s, and on Amen from 1986 to 1991. , could not be reached for comment.
