``The Young and the Restless'' Actress Kate Linder Takes Real Life Role as Spokesperson for The ALS Association.

WHAT: Daytime drama star Kate Linder, confidante and housekeeper
Esther Valentine for more than two decades on the number one
rated soap opera, CBS' "The Young and the Restless," has
become a celebrity spokesperson for The ALS Association.
Linder will energize ALS patients, families and friends
organizing teams for the ALSA Orange County Chapter Walk to
          D'Feet ALS(R) 2005, scheduled for Saturday, October 15, with
motivational, heartfelt remarks about the fight against Lou
Gehrig's disease. Linder will talk about her brother-in-law,
Scott, who is battling ALS, and why she became involved with
ALSA, the pre-eminent leader in the fight for a cure for
          amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, a progressive
neurodegenerative disease. Linder is the honorary chair of
          the Walk.

WHY: The Walk to D'Feet ALS(R) is the national signature
fundraising event for The ALS Association. The Walk has
raised $30 million since 2000 to finance patient services
and programs at ALSA's national network of chapters. As many
as 30,000 Americans may currently be affected by the ALS,
also commonly referred to as Lou Gehrig's disease. More than
5,600 people are diagnosed with ALS each year, approximately
          one person every 90 minutes.
