Sunshine Network premieres an informative and entertaining new series next week with the introduction of "The Garden Rebel Show" with renowned radio and television host Robert Vincent Sims.
The series premieres Tuesday, May 4, at 4:30 p.m. statewide on Sunshine Network (over 4.6 million homes). Each half-hour, weekly episode will air Tuesdays at 4:30 p.m. and repeat Sundays at 7 a.m. (ET).
"The Garden Rebel Show" on Sunshine Network will showcase homes in the Central Florida area, offering tips and information on different types of landscaping. The program will include special "How To" segments and a "Tonics" segment illustrating Vince Sims' famous lawn and garden creations made with simple household items such as ammonia, soap, tea and even beer. Viewers will accompany Vince as he takes a home from start to finish, creating beautiful and low maintenance landscapes.
Robert Vincent Sims, aka "The Garden Rebel," is renowned across Florida as one of the area's premier experts. His show is animated and entertaining with advice such as "Give names and faces to the weeds, someone from your office perhaps, maybe even your in-laws; now grab the weeds firmly and hit them hard against the cement. You'll be drained of all your hostilities!" Sims introduced phase landscaping to his listeners and is widely known for his sensible and simple solutions. He has also authored some of Florida's best-selling books, including the popular "Lifting the Mind Fog," as well as numerous audio and video cassettes.
"While not typical programming fare for a regional sports network, we love the idea of this show and believe it will become very popular," said Jim Liberatore, corporate vice president and general manager of Sunshine Network. "Florida is known for its unique growing conditions and `The Garden Rebel' will showcase many of the creative gardening ideas designed just for Florida homes. Vince is amazing. His style, exuberance and expertise will make this program a must-see for pro and amateur gardeners across the state."
