``Scrubs'' Soundtrack Just What the Doctor Ordered; Hollywood Records' Release Features Cross-section of Hot New and Established Artists.

Last Season, NBC's "Scrubs" became one of TV's hottest comedies. Now, Hollywood Records is set to release an album of music heard on the critically acclaimed series. Featuring a diverse line-up of new and established artists - including Colin Hay, Butthole Surfers, Shawn Mullins, the Eels, John Cale, and more. Hollywood's SCRUBS soundtrack arrives in stores September 24th, while the video for the single,"Superman" (the show's theme song) by Lazlo Bane, will be directed by first-time video director and "Scrubs" star Zach Braff. It will include behind-the-scenes footage from the show and performance footage of Lazlo Bane. The "Scrubs" season premiere airs Thursday, September 26th on NBC.

"Scrubs" follows the lives and loves of a group of earnest (yet quirky) young medical residents. "E.R." it's not, as at any moment the scene might shift from intensive care consult to a balcony musical number a la "West Side Story." To accent the show's madcap pace and comic tone, a wide variety of pop music has been used as backdrop.

"We consider music a key element of our show, so much that writers, cast members, and producers all scour local clubs and CD racks for bands we feel should be better known," said Bill Lawrence, "Scrubs" creator and executive producer.

Every song on the SCRUBS soundtrack has been featured on the series except for "Overkill," which will be performed by solo artist and former Men At Work frontman Colin Hay when he guest stars on the "Scrubs" second season premiere, airing September 26, (8:30 - 9:00 p.m., ET/PT) playing a troubadour who appears unexpectedly in J.D.'s fantasy scenes throughout the episode.
