Before Heading Overseas
WHAT: A convoy of DHL's distinctive yellow and red trucks
carrying sports equipment destined for U.S. troops in Iraq and
Afghanistan will arrive at Louisville Slugger Headquarters for
a Flag Day event on Tuesday, June 14th.
The equipment was collected through Operation Slugger, a
nationwide effort coordinated in partnership with DHL,
Louisville Slugger, USA Cares, VFW and AUSA, to help boost the
morale of troops overseas by providing sports gear for
recreational activities.
With the Louisville Slugger Museum's signature 120-foot bat as
the backdrop, soldiers, veterans, military families, VFW and
USA Cares volunteers and local community members will join
together in honoring U.S. troops to celebrate Flag Day as red,
white and blue streamers fly overhead.
