The week of events is scheduled to begin on Monday, Oct. 2, and culminates with the association's eighth annual Memory Walk fund- raiser on Saturday, Oct. 7, at Hollywood Park Racetrack Hollywood Park is a thoroughbred racecourse and poker cardroom located in Inglewood, California, USA, about 3 miles (5 km) from Los Angeles International Airport and next door to The Forum. On Wednesday, Oct. 4, the Alzheimer's Association and Daniel Freeman Memorial Hospital will present a special program, "Memory Loss: Know What You're Dealing With," featuring Dr. Sarah Olelewe, a Daniel Freeman Memorial Hospital geriatrician geriatrician

a specialist in geriatrics.
. The program will be held at the hospital's Medical Education Conference Center, from 10 a.m. until noon.

Daniel Freeman Memorial Hospital is located at 333 N. Prairie Ave., in Inglewood.

 and Alzheimer's disease. Vascular dementia is the second leading cause of dementia in the elderly and most common among African-Americans.

Unlike Alzheimer's disease and most other dementia, vascular dementia is preventable. Major risk factors for vascular dementia include age, gender and ethnicity. Other risk factors include hypertension, cigarette smoking, diabetes and obesity.
