The film The Great Marlin, shown continuously in the display, takes the viewer on Mr. Glassell's quest for the world record marlin and features actual footage of the record catch. Scenes from this film were used in the movie version of Ernest Hemingway's The Old Man and the Sea. Additional memorabilia and information about Alfred C. Glassell, Jr. and his world record black marlin can be found in five different locations in the IGFA Fishing Hall of Fame & Museum. Alfred C. Glassell, Jr. was inducted into the IGFA Fishing Hall of Fame in 2001. In addition to his world record catch, Mr. Glassell was the first to boat a black marlin over 1,000 pounds. He has spent his lifetime pursuing his passions and excelling in many fields including the petroleum industry, marine biology research, and collecting fine art. Mr. Glassell was a member of the U.S Team in the International Tuna Cup Matches for seven years, serving as captain of 1952 second-place team.
