``Jack of All Tirades'' to be Honored At Friars Club of California; Legendary Actor/Comedian, Jack Carter, Honored With ``Wall of Fame'' Ceremony On Nov. 9, 2001.

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 31, 2001

Jack Carter, one of America's premier comedians for more than half a century, a member of that elite generation of "funnymen" along with the likes of Jerry Lewis, Alan King, Buddy Hackett and Shecky Greene, will be honored by the Friars Club of California on Friday, Nov. 9, 2001, beginning at 6:30 p.m.

The Friars Club of California is located at 9900 Santa Monica Blvd., Beverly Hills.

Master of ceremonies Freddie Roman, will be joined by friends Frankie Avalon, Sid Caesar, Shecky Greene, Carl Reiner, among many others. The gala is being produced by Friars Club event chairman Bruce Charet.

"Jack is one of our legendary comedians in the entertainment business," said Irwin M. Schaeffer, Friars Club president/dean. "He has been a long-time friend of the Club and we are very proud to honor him with his portrait on our wall of fame."

Known for his many talents, Carter has graced every inch of the entertainment world ranging from nightclubs, Broadway, behind the camera and on both the television and movie screens. Though beginning on Broadway, Carter received his first real break appearing on several episodes of Milton Berle's "Texaco Star Theatre." He later landed his own show self-titled, "The Jack Carter Show."

On stage Carter has entertained audiences in "Mr. Wonderful," "Guys & Dolls" and, most recently, completed a tour as Fagin in the musical "Oliver" and starred in the smash musical "Sugar" with Robert Morse.

Carter's television credits include numerous guest appearances on the "Ed Sullivan Show," "Dean Martin Show," "Andy Williams Show," "Jackie Gleason Show," and many others including the last three episodes of the "Bob Hope Comedy Specials." More recently he has been seen on "Diagnosis Murder," "Touched by an Angel" and "Caroline in the City."

Carter was also nominated for an Emmy for his performance in the ABC Movie-of-the-Week, "The Girl Who Couldn't Lose."

Regarded as one of the top nightclub entertainers in the world, Carter can be found regularly in Las Vegas hotels such as Harrahs, Desert Inn, Sahara and the Hilton.
