``Heard Him on the Radio'' Among Top 25 Blues CDs for 1999; Chris Whynaught's First Solo Effort is Recognized by BLUESprint as One of Year's Best.

"Heard Him on the Radio," the first solo CD by singer/songwriter Chris Whynaught, has been selected as one of the year's top 25 blues CDs by BLUESprint magazine, the official publication of the Northeast Blues Society.

The CD was released in September on Bad Daddy Records.

The "great band" Clarke refers to is Whynaught's hot seven-piece band, The Reasons Why. Together with the band, Whynaught brilliantly melds a variety of styles, from traditional R&B and gospel to down and dirty blues Dirty blues encompasses forms of blues music that deal with topics that are sometimes considered taboo in society, including sexual metaphors and/or references to drug use of some kind.  and funk. In cuts such as "Seems Like A Good Time To Sing The Blues" and "Pyramid of Love," the contemporary blues artist captures the Jimmy Witherspoon-inspired traditional blues and adds a contemporary blues sound with some R&B flavor.
