Computer game developer and publisher NovaLogic today announced the arrival of "Delta Force:(R) Land Warrior(TM)" in retail stores throughout North America.

"Land Warrior" is the third in the company's successful series of action games based on the elite anti-terrorist unit known as Delta Force. The new game brings with it an arsenal of improvements, including an all-new 3D graphics engine, a squad of characters with their own military specialties, and enhanced realism. "Delta Force: Land Warrior" also introduces online gamers to NovaWorld(R) 2, the next generation of NovaLogic's large-scale Internet multi-player service.

The game's new graphics engine uses the power of today's 3D accelerator cards to produce smoother, more attractive visuals while retaining the long viewing distances and smooth, rolling terrain of the non-accelerated voxel-based engines behind "Delta Force" and "Delta Force 2." The vast outdoor environments that set the first two games apart are seamlessly blended with large, complex interior settings for the most immersive missions yet.

New weapon effects add an additional level of realism to "Delta Force: Land Warrior"; accuracy can be affected by weapon recoil, the character's motion -- even a sniper's breathing. And "Delta Force: Land Warrior" is the first game of its kind with an in-mission save feature -- a handy option to have when crossing hundreds of yards of hostile territory where a single well-placed enemy round can mean the end of the operation.

The game also presents players with a squad of five Delta Force veterans, each with his or her own specialized training and abilities -- heavy weapons, demolitions, sniper, close-quarters combat, etc. -- adding new elements to single- and multi-player action.

"Delta Force: Land Warrior" is the first game to run on NovaWorld 2, which adds new capabilities to NovaLogic's robust online gaming service. Players can receive experience points in any of nine multi-player game types, earning military decorations and promotions in rank as they sharpen their skills. Every player's record will be viewable on NovaWorld 2 at any time, letting gamers see just where they rank among the world's best.

The system also lets NovaLogic create special arenas where only low-ranking players are allowed, ensuring that newcomers aren't overwhelmed by more skilled players. On the other end of the spectrum will be high-ranking arenas where the top players can always find a challenge.

"Delta Force: Land Warrior" supports as many as 50 players per game and features built-in voice communication via NovaLogic's Voice-Over-Net(TM) technology. Players can also host their own public or private games via NovaWorld 2, which operate just like direct-IP Internet connections -- without the hassle of entering IP addresses. Local-area network support is also included for as many as 16 players.
