The con is on -- or is it? Two-time Academy Award(R) winner Dustin Hoffman ("The Graduate," "Tootsie," "Wag the Dog") and Academy Award(R) Nominee Andy Garcia, Rachel Weisz and acclaimed director-writer-actor Ed Burns ("Sidewalks of New York," "Saving Private Ryan") go head-to-head in a devilish con game in Lions Gate Home Entertainment's sly crime caper "Confidence," which debuts on home video Sept. 16, 2003.

Synopsis:

Jake Vig (Burns), a sharp and polished grifter, and his crew, Gordo (Giamatti), Big Al and two corrupt LAPD officers (Guzman & Logue), have just swindled hundreds of thousands of dollars from the unsuspecting Lionel Dolby. Unbeknownst to Jake, Lionel happens to be an accountant for an eccentric crime boss known as The King (Hoffman). When Lionel and Big Al both end up dead, Jake prevents further bloodshed by offering to repay The King by targeting his main competitor in the biggest con of his career.

Jake brings in some female muscle with Lily (Weisz) a brash, blonde pickpocket who plays a major part in an intriguing and intricate scheme of fraud involving corporate loans, creative accounting, wire transfers and offshore accounts. When Jake's nemesis, Special Agent Gunther Butan (Garcia), arrives on the scene, the con begins to unravel and it becomes evident that when it comes to money and power, no one can be trusted.
