``Cast Away'' Scribe William Broyles Jr. Named ShoWest 2001 Sceenwriter of the Year.

LOS ANGELES--(ENTERTAINMENT WIRE)--Jan. 8, 2001

William Broyles Jr., who wrote the Twentieth Century Fox box-office hit "Cast Away," which to-date has grossed more than $143 million, will be honored as ShoWest 2001's Screenwriter of the Year, it was announced today by Robert Sunshine, chairman of Sunshine Group Worldwide (SGW SGW Stargate Worlds (MMORPG)

A decorated Marine Veteran, Broyles received an Academy Award(R) nomination and Writer's Guild Award nomination for "Apollo 13," which he co-wrote with Al Reinert. Broyles also wrote the screenplay for director Tim Burton's reinvention of "Planet of the Apes," which Twentieth Century Fox will release on July 27. He also co-wrote Fox's 1999 box-office hit "Entrapment entrapment, in law, the instigation of a crime in the attempt to obtain cause for a criminal prosecution.
