They said it couldn't be done, but what do "they" know? A trio of legendary British Rockers is giving today's top twentysomething rappers, rockers, and American Idols a wild run for their money -- all the way up the charts on the wings of an "Angel."

For the week ending October 29, "Angel," the first single from The Jones Gang debut album "Any Day Now," makes an incredible leap from #6 to #2 on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles Chart -- sharing the Top 10 with Chris Brown, Scoundrels featuring Pastor Troy, and The Pussycat Dolls featuring Busta Rhymes. The song, which previously peaked at #4, is currently in its ninth week on the chart.

On the current FMQB AC40 Radio Chart, the appropriately named classic rock power ballad pushed past the incredible Rob Thomas and captured the #1 spot, ahead of hot young adult contemporary stars like John Mayer, Jesse McCartney, Michael Buble, Green Day, 3 Doors Down, Kelly Clarkson and Gwen Stefani.

According to Mark LaSpina of FMQB, the band is one of the very few, if not the only Classic Rock act, to post a #1 on this AC chart.

But wait, there's more news for "Angel" on the AC front! This week, the song leaped six places to crack the Top 40 (at #40) on the prestigious Radio & Records national AC airplay chart, while climbing to #31 on the AC R&R Indicators chart.

While toasting to his most recent success--which comes just over 40 years after scoring his first chart hit with The Small Faces ("Whatcha Gonna Do About It")--Jones is also hard at work penning his long awaited memoir with pop-culturist and New York Times best-selling author Marc Eliot.
