The "25th Annual People's Choice Awards The People's Choice Awards is an awards show recognizing the people and the work of popular culture. The show has been held annually since 1975 and is one of the few to be based on the opinions of the general public. " will once again be the first televised awards program of the year as it honors people's favorites in 18 categories of television, feature films and music.

. The People's Choice Awards are voted by a special nationwide poll conducted by The Gallup Organization.

In celebration of the awards' Silver Anniversary, three special People's Choice Awards will be included and highlighted this year. They are All Time Favorite Movie Star, All Time Favorite Television Star and All Time Favorite Musical Performer.

Gallup voters will select the top five in each of the three special categories with the final vote of these three categories only to be determined by Internet voting. Online voting can be accessed via the CBS (Cell Broadcast Service) See cell broadcast.  website, cbs.com.

In an unprecedented partnership, CBS.com and Excite, a leading online service, will build a People's Choice Awards website that will include an online voting booth, interactive games, polls, celebrity chats and interviews, multimedia show information and a sweepstakes.

Unlike other major entertainment award specials based on nominations from peer-group associations or industry insiders, the "People's Choice Awards" favorites are chosen by The Gallup Organization using a representative sampling of more than 211 million Americans who select their favorite actors and actresses, television shows, singers and movies.

No names of entries or nominees are given; pollees can vote for any TV show, motion picture or performer they choose.

A listing of the top vote getters in each category will be announced in the near future as will news of this year's host(s) and presenters. The program, announcing the top favorite in each category on Jan. 10, will be before an invited black-tie audience of approximately 2,500 including top television, film and music stars and hundreds of fans.

The People's Choice Awards traditional post-telecast party will be held in the International Ballroom of the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills Beverly Hills, city (1990 pop. 31,971), Los Angeles co., S Calif., completely surrounded by the city of Los Angeles; inc. 1914.
