"We are excited by the fact that the BIPHASIX(TM) delivery system is capable of delivering active interferon-alpha into the skin," said Dr. Trevor Seaton, Vice-Chair of Helix's Medical Advisory Board and Associate Clinical Professor of Medicine at McMaster University. He continued, "These results are significant not only for the treatment of HPV infections, but also suggest possible transdermal delivery for other large molecules such as proteins and DNA."

HPV is a sexually transmitted disease sexually transmitted disease (STD) or venereal disease, term for infections acquired mainly through sexual contact. Five diseases were traditionally known as venereal diseases: gonorrhea, syphilis, and the less common granuloma inguinale,  that causes cervical cancer and genital warts.
