) has chosen the NexStor 3150 Fibre Channel RAID system as the primary RAID offering in its custom-built SAN solutions designed for the Japanese and Asian markets.

The NexStor 3150 is the world's first Fibre Channel RAID system that has room for up to 584GB of storage and active/active RAID controllers in a 2U (3.5") enclosure.

"nStor has been very active in pursuing both OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) The rebranding of equipment and selling it. The term initially referred to the company that made the products (the "original" manufacturer), but eventually became widely used to refer to the organization that buys the products and  and System Integrator business opportunities here and abroad," commented Jim Habuda, vice president of nStor OEM and Indirect Sales. "Victor Data Systems is one of the first of several opportunities to come to fruition. They are a well-established Japanese company with a rich heritage and should do very well with our products in this market."

"We are very pleased to offer the nStor storage systems as part of our solutions, especially, our SAN solutions," said Mr. Teruo Sugiyama, CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board.  of VDS. "The small, very dense form factor of the NexStor 3150 and the NexStor 802F expansion unit are ideal for our market where space is at a premium. We have already made sales with this product and have found a high level of interest in its unique features."

The NexStor 3150 and NexStor 802F

The storage NexStor 3150 and NexStor 802F solutions packs an unprecedented eight disk drives into less than 3 1/2 inches (2U) of data center rack space, making it the smallest enterprise-level storage system on the market. The NexStor 802F enclosure accepts 1-inch or 1.6-inch Fibre Channel disk drives in a compact 2U enclosure for standard 19-inch racks, yielding almost twice the storage capacity in the same space as competitive alternatives. The NexStor 3150 is a storage solution that integrates Fibre Channel RAID controllers within the same enclosure and utilizes additional 802F's for scalability and creates the smallest fault-tolerant, SAN-ready enterprise storage system on the market.

The NexStor 3150/802F provides the utmost in reliability and fault-tolerance. It features nStor's hot-swappable loop resiliency circuit (LRC (Longitudinal Redundancy Check) An error checking method that generates a parity bit from a specified string of bits on a longitudinal track. In a row and column format, such as on magnetic tape, LRC is often used with VRC, which creates a parity bit for each ) cards that handle Fibre Channel re-timing and clock recovery on both the transmit and receive signals, while serving as an active hub A central connecting device in a network that regenerates signals on the output side to keep the signal strong. Also called a "multiport repeater." Contrast with passive hub and intelligent hub. See hub.  for cabinet daisy-chaining. This design eliminates signal degradation that can result in unreliable loop operation when an enclosure simply relies on disk drives to re-time the signal. This technology provides extremely reliable high performance over the Fibre Channel interface. Other features include dual power cords, as well as hot-swappable drives, fans and power supplies. The NexStor 3150 also features hot-swappable, active/active Fibre Channel RAID controllers.
