") today announced that it has concluded a series of investments in the aggregate amount of US$67 million, which will allow BCI to maintain its current 20% interest in the Taiwanese PCS (1) (Personal Communications Services) Refers to wireless services that emerged after the U.S. government auctioned commercial licenses in 1994 and 1995. This radio spectrum in the 1.  provider, KG Telecom.

Earlier this year, KG Telecom acquired 82% ownership of the Taiwanese PCS company, Tuntex, establishing a valuable island-wide PCS wireless footprint for the company. These investments by BCI and capital contributed by other shareholders will allow KG Telecom to complete the previously-announced acquisition of Tuntex shares, as well as expand network capacity to accommodate stronger-than-expected demand. In addition, these investments will enable BCI to maintain its current 20% interest in the larger, merged entity that will result from the acquisition by KG Telecom of the remaining 18% interest in Tuntex which is expected to be completed in January 2000.
