Tour, the "Big Leagues" of competitive bass angling, and a shot at $1.8 million in cash and prizes.

Winning anglers in the Professional and Co-Angler Divisions of each tournament in the series, as well as the overall top 10 anglers, based on a system of points and pounds, will receive automatic berths in the 2001 Wal-Mart FLW Tour, the richest tournament series in history. The 2000 Wal-Mart FLW Tour features $4.4 million in guaranteed cash purses.

The three-year-old EverStart Series is comprised of two divisions, Eastern and Central, with four multi-day events per division. The top 75 professional and co-anglers from each division will advance to the year-end EverStart Invitational Challenge at Cypress Gardens This article is about the Florida theme park. The winning professional angler in the Challenge will receive $25,000 and one of the authentic Evinrude-powered Ranger Comanche fishing machines used in the final rounds of the Wal-Mart FLW Tour events. The winning co-angler will also receive a Ranger rig powered by Evinrude, plus $10,000. The Challenge event will also be broadcast on ESPN ESPN Entertainment and Sports Programming Network  2.

"The EverStart Series has become the bass tournament series of choice for serious bass anglers, because it enables top performers to advance to top professional competition and gives them guaranteed spots in the Wal-Mart FLW Tour," said Operation Bass Vice President, Tournament Operations, Kathy Fennel fennel, common name for several perennial herbs, genus Foeniculum vulgare of the family Umbelliferae (parsley family), related to dill. The strawlike foliage and the seeds are licorice-scented and are used (especially in Italian cooking) for flavoring. . "Our tournaments cover the skill level spectrum. Red Man anglers can advance to EverStart competition, and EverStart anglers can move up to the Wal-Mart FLW Tour."

The format for the regular EverStart Series events includes four days of competition, Wednesday-Saturday. A full field of 150 anglers from the Professional Division and 150 from the Co-Angler Division compete for two days, after which the fields are reduced to the top 30. The top 30 anglers from each division start over on day three and fish for one day only to determine the top 10 professional anglers who will advance to the final round on Saturday. Co-angler competition concludes at the end of fishing on day three. The professional anglers start over on the final day, with the winner determined by the weight of that day's catch. The final weigh-in at each event is held at the local Wal-Mart store.

Each regular EverStart event features a first place award of $10,000, plus a Ranger boat powered by Evinrude. First place in the Co-Angler division is $6,000.
