NEW ADVANTIUM 120 OVEN EXPANDS GE'S SUCCESSFUL
SPEEDCOOK LINE
Beginning in May, GE Appliances began selling the newest
Advantium(TM) oven-the fast, versatile GE Profile(TM) Advantium(TM)
120. From the company that created the speedcook category, the new
Advantium 120 oven cooks great-tasting food amazingly fast-up to four
times faster than a traditional oven. Together with GE's first
Advantium ovens, which cook up to eight times faster than a
traditional oven, the new oven technology is intended to help
time-crunched consumers rediscover the joy of cooking.
The perfect combination of speed and versatility, the new GE
Advantium 120 oven offers four cooking modes including Speedcook,
traditional oven, microwave and warming capabilities. Harnessing the
power of halogen light, the Advantium 120 uses Speedcook technology
similar to the award-winning Advantium oven. It cooks flavorful and
beautifully browned food remarkably fast -- with no preheating.
The GE Advantium 120 allows consumers the convenience of an
industry first 110-volt installation while providing a wide spectrum
of cooking power especially designed for today's hectic households.
The estimated retail price for the new GE Profile Advantium 120
oven is $749-$849.

GE TO OFFER ONGOING PHYSICIAN CME CREDITS VIA WEB
GE Medical Systems has announced a new Internet-based program that
allows physicians to obtain Category 1 CME Credits in the field of
Ultrasound via the web.
While sonographers have been able to obtain CME courses at
http://www.geultrasound.com for close to three years via the web, GE's
new program represents the first time physicians have been able to
receive similar ongoing education from an equipment manufacturer. The
Category One CME for Physicians and Sonographers was created in
partnership with the Institute for Advanced Medical Education (IAME),
which is North America's largest accredited provider of CME in
Ultrasound.
"Physicians have different continuing education needs than
sonographers, so it was important to develop a program that catered to
their needs," said Omar Ishrak, vice president and general manager of
GE Medical Systems' Ultrasound business. "The Internet is changing
the
delivery of healthcare, including how physicians and sonographers
obtain continuing education. This programs just demonstrates GE's
ability to listen to physicians and deliver programs and technology
that help them improve the level of care they provide."
GE plans on reinforcing its on-line Category One courses by adding
more throughout the year. IAME is accredited by the Accreditation
Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to sponsor continuing
medical education for physicians, and IAME requires physicians to pay
a small fee in order to receive the CME credits.

SALES OF GE90 UPGRADE KITS EXCEED $160 MILLION;
KITS PAY FOR THEMSELVES IN AIRLINE OPERATION
The GE90 Performance Improvement Program (PIP) upgrade kits,
targeted for GE90-90B engines powering the Boeing 777, are winning
widespread marketplace acceptance.
Four customers have ordered the PIP kit for a total of 96 GE90-90B
engines. This represents approximately 40 percent of the GE90-90B
engines in service. PIP kit sales to date are valued at more than $160
million.
The PIP upgrade kit includes advanced 3-D aerodynamic components
in the high pressure compressor, fan outlet guide vane sealing, active
clearance control optimization in the high pressure turbine, and
clearance reduction in the low pressure turbine. A second upgrade
package is available to increase the engine's thrust rating from
90,000 pounds to 94,000 pounds.
The PIP upgrade kit provides a 1.6 percent fuel burn reduction and
over 20 degrees Celsius increased exhaust gas temperature margin.
"These improvements, in addition to the increased payload capability
from a higher thrust rating, create overall benefits that may pay for
the PIP investment in a period of two years or less, and the customers
are thrilled," said Chaker Chahrour, GE90 Project general manager at
GE Aircraft Engines.
The PIP upgrade kit was developed concurrently with the GE90-94B
engine model. The GE90-94B, rated at 94,000 pounds of thrust, was
certified and entered service on the Boeing 777-200ER in 2000. The
engine's advanced 3-D compressor is also a key building block of the
GE90-115B, now under development to produce an unprecedented 115,000
pounds of thrust for longer-range Boeing 777-200 and -300 aircraft.
