Byline: - Chris Cocoles

ANTELOPE VALLEY This article is about the Los Angeles County region. For the census-designated place in Wyoming, see Antelope Valley-Crestview, Wyoming.

The Antelope Valley
 (1-1) AT SULTANA (0-2)

7:30 p.m.

Outlook: The Antelopes gained much-needed confidence with a 35-0 win at Victor Valley last week. A.V. was humbled 45-13 by Bakersfield in its opener.

``Bakersfield was one of the best teams I've seen since I've been in high school,'' said Antelopes senior QB Demetre Booker. ``I think our team wasn't ready for it. But little by little, we're improving.''

Booker had a big game against Victor Valley, throwing for 111 yards and rushing for 108 more. A.V. standout WR Jerome Eason was suffering from a slight case of turf toe turf toe Sports medicine A ligamentous sprain of the metatarsophalangeal–MTP joint of the great toe affecting athletes in various sports–baseball, football, soccer played on artificial turf Clinical Commonly presents as an intensely painful, swollen, , but coach Brent Newcomb said he will play.

Keep on eye on RB Sean Wallace, who had four touchdowns last week at Victor Valley.

``We needed that type of game because Bakersfield just manhandled us,'' Newcomb said.

VICTOR VALLEY (0-2) AT HIGHLAND (0-2)

7:30 p.m.

Outlook: The defending Golden League-champion Bulldogs are struggling to score points. Highland's drought is at eight quarters after enduring shutouts against Valencia and Bakersfield Centennial the first two weeks.

Highland's defense held Centennial to 16 points, and Victor Valley's offense can relate to the Bulldogs' struggles to score. The Jackrabbits managed just 100 yards of total offense and seven first downs in a 35-0 loss to Antelope Valley.

The Jackrabbits have scored seven points in two games, the lone touchdown coming on an interception return.

SERRANO (1-1) AT LANCASTER (2-0)

7:30 p.m.

Outlook: Antelope Valley's Brent Newcomb calls Lancaster the Golden League's biggest surprise. But the Eagles were a playoff team last season and do have experienced returning players such as Tony Ortiz Tony Ortiz is a sports reporter for WXYT radio in Detroit, MI.
