Tony Cardenas Tony Cardenas served in the California State Assembly. In the Assembly, he had the powerful position of chair of the Budget Committee. He is now a Los Angeles City Councilman, representing the 6th district, which includes parts of the San Fernando Valley.

RECENT revenue forecasts indicate that the state will surpass last year's budget estimates. These estimates range from a couple of million to as much as $500 million. I believe we should use these funds in the following ways - a tax credit for young families, class-size reduction planning grants, or purchasing of new textbooks and classroom materials.

We need to give young working families a tax break. I will introduce legislation which will award a tax credit to every two-parent family in which one parent stays home, takes care of the children and is below 200 percent of the poverty level. We need to reward parents who make a conscious choice and sacrifice to stay home and take care of their children.

Class-size reduction in kindergarten kindergarten [Ger.,=garden of children], system of preschool education. Friedrich Froebel designed (1837) the kindergarten to provide an educational situation less formal than that of the elementary school but one in which children's creative play instincts would be  to third grade has been recognized as a very important step in improving education and student performance. Unfortunately, too many schools have not been able to take advantage of these new opportunities because of the lack of classroom space. My proposal would make a percentage of the surplus revenue available to school districts to begin the assessment of need and planning necessary so when California California (kăl'ĭfôr`nyə), most populous state in the United States, located in the Far West; bordered by Oregon (N), Nevada and, across the Colorado River, Arizona (E), Mexico (S), and the Pacific Ocean (W).  voters pass a bond measure to build more classrooms, schools will not waste another year in planning.

Over the past year I have been actively involved in identifying solutions to improve the textbook textbook Informatics A treatise on a particular subject. See Bible.  crisis our children face. I visited a classroom in my district where students were using books that were dug out of a trash can In the Macintosh, a simulated garbage can used for deleting files and folders. The trash can keeps the files intact in case the user wants to restore them, but can be "emptied" from time to time to save disk space. . The teacher told me that these 25-year-old books were better than nothing. When I was a student at San Fernando High School San Fernando High School, located in San Fernando, California, is a secondary school that is a part of the Los Angeles Unified School District.

, students were allowed to take our books home. Today, too many classrooms only have one set of textbooks and often students are forced to share because there are not enough books to go around. California must invest more in books and classroom materials for our youths.
