Entertainment Editors

SAN DIEGO--(ENTERTAINMENT WIRE)--May, 18, 2000

Online music label SpinRecords.com announced today that they have appointed music industry veteran Michael Schnapp to Vice President of Rock. Schnapp brings 16 years of independent and major label experience to SpinRecords.com's Internet/traditional hybrid model, and will oversee all promotion, marketing and A&R of the rock genre acts.

Schnapp's substantial experience includes marketing, artist development, promotion, A&R, management, and many other aspects of working with successful rock bands. He spent over five years at Epic Records Epic Records is an American record label, owned and operated by Sony BMG. Electric Light Orchestra, Ozzy Osbourne, Sade, Luther Vandross, Gloria Estefan, George Michael, Cyndi Lauper, and Duran Duran paved the way for Epic's multiplatinum 1980s and 1990s successes.  as Director of Metal/Rock Marketing and Promotion working with gold and platinum artists like Ozzy Osbourne, Pearl Jam, Rage Against the Machine, Alice Cooper, Iron Maiden iron maiden

Schnapp subsequently moved to EMI Records EMI Records is a record label, founded by EMI in 1972 as the successor label to the Columbia label. The global success that EMI enjoyed with pop music in the 1960s also exposed trade mark issues as EMI only had the rights to some of its trade marks, most notably His Master's Voice  where he was Vice President of A&R and VP of Rock and worked with platinum artists like Fun Lovin' Criminals, Queensryche, and others. He subsequently founded Schnappland Entertainment in New York New York, state, United States

Appointing an industry vet such as Schnapp is another illustration of how SpinRecords.com has sought to apply viable traditional music industry models to the Internet music revolution. Unlike most other online music "labels," SpinRecords.com has recognized that although the distribution aspect of the music industry has changed radically, traditional marketing and promotion is still essential to the commercial success of musical acts.

"Michael Schnapp's first project is the follow through on the efforts of our band, The Color Red," commented Wayne Irving, president and CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. "I believe the experience that `Schnapp' brings to Spin Records will not only make its Hybrid Model a more compelling contender out there, but it will provide invaluable guidance for all our bands and a welcome seasoning for the A&R efforts of Spin Records."

"It's a very exciting time in the music industry," commented Schnapp. "New technology and traditional marketing & promotion techniques are coming together and creating new opportunities for the artists and labels alike. I'm thrilled to be a part of this revolution."
