REGULARS from a Coventry pub have raised pounds 500 to send old folk from a city rest home to the seaside.

The money, raised during a fun day at the Coventry Cross, in The Burges, on May Bank Holiday Monday, was handed over to staff from the Weavers Rest Home, in St Nicholas Street, Radford.

Pub regular Pat Wright, aged 65, driving force behind charity fund-raisers, said: "There are a lot of old soldiers Old Soldiers is a sequel novel to the short story "With Your Shield" by David Weber, published in the anthology BOLO!, edited by same.

It details the future of the two survivors of that battle as they try to keep alive a remnant of humanity, deliberately separated off and
 in the home and I am an old soldier, so we thought it would be nice to send them for a good old-fashioned day out at the seaside."

A cheque for pounds 1,500, raised at a previous event, was also given to staff from Birmingham Children's Hospital Birmingham Children's Hospital NHS Foundation Trust manage the central Birmingham hospital now also known as The Diana, Princess of Wales Children's Hospital, which provides general and emergency health care services to children in Birmingham, the West Midlands and beyond.  to pay for medical equipment.
