McKesson HBOC, Inc., (McKessonHBOC) (NYSE: MCK) today launched HorizonWP(TM), an innovative new family of "Web-powered" products and services designed to allow healthcare organizations to leverage the power of the Internet to deliver information when and where it's needed. HorizonWP will enable McKessonHBOC customers to satisfy user demands for connectivity and personalized views of information on a variety of devices, regardless of where the data or user happens to be.

The introduction of HorizonWP marks a significant milestone in the revitalization plan for the company's Information Technology Business. Using HorizonWP software products and services, organizations can provide secure, personalized Internet portals for physicians, consumers, materials managers, executives, employees and other users. Unlike most Internet-based systems currently sold in the healthcare market, HorizonWP is designed to offer the tools and flexibility for organizations to build their own portals or purchase one of McKessonHBOC's prepackaged solutions.

HorizonWP also differs from other Internet-based systems in that information from existing solutions can be visually integrated with data and content from other sources, then accessed by physicians, patients and other healthcare constituents. For example, a physician will be able to sign on once and see information such as laboratory results, patient census and radiology results all displayed on a single screen along with vital signs graphing and relevant disease information.

According to King, customer feedback played a major role in McKessonHBOC's development of HorizonWP. Memorial Health Physicians Use HorizonWP Physician Portal

Memorial Health in Savannah, Ga., is using the HorizonWP solution to create a physician portal. The portal visually integrates patient data from McKessonHBOC's STAR 2000 and Pathways Care Manager solutions into personalized views based on each physician's needs and medical specialty. According to vice president and chief information officer Steven Stanic, empowering physicians to customize their own views of data improves their productivity and use of Savannah's information systems as well.
