[0] LOCAL NOTES : ANNOUNCEMENTS.Moorpark College Moorpark College is a California-state funded community college located on a 134 acre (542,000 m²) property reclining on a hill in Moorpark, a town in Ventura County, California. Sports camps: Moorpark College will be holding a variety of sports camps this summer. Three coed soccer camps are scheduled for July 22-26, July 29 to Aug. 2 and Aug. 5-9 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The coed speed & jump development camp will be held July 15-17 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Volleyball camp for girls will be held July 29 to Aug. 2 from 8 a.m. to noon. Mortensen, who will attend UCLA UCLA University of California at Los Angeles UCLA University Center for Learning Assistance (Illinois State University) UCLA University of Carrollton, TX and Lower Addison, TX this fall, set a national record in the 3,200 meters at 9:48.59. She won the state championship in the same event. In the fall, she won the national cross country championship. Muir track star Obea Moore was selected the male Athlete of the Year. Running: The Rancho Simi Rancho San José de Nuestra Senora de Altagarcia y Simi is one of the land grants in California by the Spanish government. The name derives from Shimiji, the name of the Chumash village here before the Spanish. Recreation and Park District will sponsor summer fun runs at Rancho Simi Community Park, 1765 Royal Ave., Saturdays, July 21, Aug. 17 and Sept. 21.
