FedEx Corporation (NYSE:FDX) subsidiary FedEx Express has received the "International Supplier of the Year" award from Compaq Computer Corporation for its stellar performance in managing portable computer shipments in 2000 for Compaq's North America Regional Logistics Operations. P. Houston, Texas-based Compaq, the world's largest maker of personal computers, chose FedEx based on the company's consistent ranking above other transportation suppliers for on-time performance, electronic-data interface compliance, claims, costs, service and total tonnage handled.

FedEx technology integration with Compaq systems in Asia last year, coupled with FedEx expertise in global supply-chain management, dramatically shortened the delivery cycle of portable computers manufactured by Compaq in Taipei, Taiwan, and shipped to the United States. FedEx, through FedEx International Priority Direct Distribution(R) service, manages the pick-up of portable computers from manufacturers in Taipei and delivers them directly to Compaq's retail customers in the U.S., eliminating the need for costly warehousing. The FedEx international service enables distribution of shipments from one origin to multiple recipients in a single country through consolidated customs entry. P.
