LITTLE ROCK, Ark.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 3, 2000

Dillard's, Inc. (NYSE:DDS) ("Dillard's" or the "Company") announced today that sales for four weeks ended July 29, 2000 were $533,832,000 compared to $558,027,000 for the same period last year. This is a decrease of 4% on an overall basis. Sales in comparable stores decreased 5% for the period.

For the quarter to date period ended July 29, 2000, total sales were $1,843,363,000. Compared to $1,889,791,000 for the second quarter last year, sales decreased 2%. Quarter to date sales in comparable stores decreased 3%.

For the year to date period ended July 29, 2000, total sales were $3,925,940,000. Compared to $4,009,860,000 for the comparable period last year, sales decreased 2%. Sales in comparable stores decreased 3% for the year to date period.

In accordance with Securities and Exchange Commission Staff Accounting Bulletin No. 101, "Revenue Recognition in Financial Statements", prior year sales have been restated to exclude the sales of leased departments.
