continues to stress daily improvement rather than visions of postseason action.

Previous wins over Chicago and Atlanta during the past week were nice, especially since each victory produced a season-high five goals. However, Anaheim has a lot it would like to prove.

began with a 3-3 tie against the red-hot Calgary Flames The Calgary Flames are a professional hockey team based in Calgary, Alberta, Canada and play out of the Pengrowth Saddledome. They are members of the Northwest Division of the Western Conference of the National Hockey League (NHL).  on Wednesday night in the first of three big home tests this week. Detroit Dallas will follow. The Ducks rallied to gain the tie before 9,639 at the Pond.

Paul Kariya's fifth goal in his last four games gave Anaheim a one-goal left with 8:06 left in the game. Kariya has a goal in four consecutive games after going the previous 10 games without a goal.

Kariya, on a play triggered by the work along the boards by Patric Kjellberg Patric Kjellberg (born June 17, 1969, in Trelleborg, Sweden) is a Swedish professional ice hockey left wing. He was drafted in the fourth round, 83rd overall, by the Montreal Canadiens in the 1988 NHL Entry Draft. , outskated two Calgary defenders and then blasted a slap shot slap shot

 past Flames goalie Roman Turek.

Aside from Kariya's scoring binge, another one of the reasons that Anaheim is improved is because it has had a healthy Steve Rucchin.

Rucchin, who missed 66 games because of injuries last season, tied the game with his goal with 14:14 left in regulation.

Rucchin's fourth goal and 11th point this season was a true indicator of what the team lacked last year. A big body in front of the net to re-direct shots from the point on the power play.

Rucchin, lifting his stick up thigh-high and tipped in defenseman Oleg Tverdovsky's one-timed slap shot with the Mighty Ducks on the power play.

The Flames' Jarome Iginla scored two second period goals to provide his club with their offense.

Calgary took a 2-1 lead into the third period thanks to the best player NOT on the NHL NHL Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, see there  All-Star Game ballot.

Iginla, the Flames talented right wing, had team-high's in goals (31) and points (71) last season. However, he was not among those placed on this year's ballot.

Iginla continues to makes noise along with an All-Star push as his 11th goal and NHL-leading 25th point gave the Flames a 2-1 edge with 43 seconds left in the second period.

Iginla found a spot in the slot ahead of Rucchin. Iginla then took a pass from center Dean McAmmond and he put home the go-ahead goal past goalie Jean-Sebastien Giguere.
