The boys' volleyball team will participate in the Sylmar tournament today, hoping to tune up for the second half of the Golden League season.

The boys finished the first half Wednesday with a loss against Highland, leaving them in fifth place.

The Urbanski sisters gave the softball team the momentum it needed heading into next week's contest against Golden League co-leader Quartz Hill.

Kianna Urbanski went 3 for 4 and Tara Urbanski pitched a complete game Thursday to lead Lancaster to a 12-0 victory over Littlerock. The win improves the Eagles to 2-2 in league.

Lancaster faces Quartz Hill on Tuesday at 3:15 p.m.

Littlerock

Quarterback Joe Fields is emerging as a baseball player. He has been inserted into the lineup in eight games and responded with a team-high .386 batting average.

``Joe's got some good wheels, so we put him in center field,'' coach Dennis Henderson said. ``We gave him a shot and he's done well.''

Littlerock (4-12, 0-7) tries for its first Golden League victory of the season at 3:15 p.m. today against Highland.

Palmdale

Hitting remains a concern for the softball team, which has managed to remain in second place in the Golden League despite a lackluster offense.

Against Quartz Hill earlier this week, Kellie Cox no-hit the Falcons for five innings before a timely hit and Rebels errors helped Palmdale build a two-run lead.

``We're still not hitting well,'' coach Gene Speidel said. ``We're doing enough to get by.''
