Colorado Avalanche The Colorado Avalanche are a professional ice hockey team based in Denver, Colorado, United States. They are members of the Northwest Division of the Western Conference of the National Hockey League (NHL). The Avalanche have won the Stanley Cup twice, in 1996 and 2001.  goalie Patrick Roy's reported involvement in a proposed gambling ship is under investigation by the NHL NHL Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, see there , but a casino official said no sports betting will be permitted aboard the ship.

Roy and his father Michael Roy were said to be among the investors in a planned floating casino that will be based in Miami.

``We are evaluating his involvement in the casino,'' NHL public relations public relations, activities and policies used to create public interest in a person, idea, product, institution, or business establishment. Lupe Aquino, 33, the former WBC super welterweight champion, lost as he fought for the first time in four years. Aquino, who had a 51-8-2 record with 34 knockouts when he retired, lost a split 12-round decision to Eric Holland.

Martina Hingis collected her third career singles title and further boosted her Australian Open prospects by beating Jennifer Capriati 6-1, 5-7, 6-1 at the Sydney International.

Hingis, 16, won the women's final in 84 minutes. Earlier, Tim Henman became the first British player since 1902 to win the men's singles title when he beat Spaniard Carlos Moya 6-3, 6-1.

The promising basketball future of a high school player is in doubt after he punched a referee who had ejected him from a game.
