Greg Norman used a sensational short game Sunday to hold off a determined challenge by Michael Bradley and a dogged effort by Vijay Singh to win the Doral-Ryder Open in Miami by two strokes.

Needing only 11 putts on the back nine, where he shot a 32, and never going more than one hole without a birdie after No. 6, Norman closed with a 66 for a 19-under-par 269.

In the first matchup in major-league history between twin brothers, Mark Mimbs was the winner while Michael Mimbs was the loser in Clearwater, Fla., as the Texas Rangers beat the Philadelphia Phillies 6-5.

BASKETBALL

The Cleveland Cavaliers placed leading scorer Terrell Brandon on the injured list because of a bruised tail bone and sprained right rotator cuff.

TENNIS

Jim Courier ended Chris Woodruff's surprising run, beating the qualifier 6-4, 6-3 for the U.S. Indoor championship in Philadelphia. The superb serves and string-shredding groundstrokes by Courier were too much for Woodruff.

Big-serving Goran Ivanisevic captured his third title of the year by defeating Marc Rosset in straight sets at the Italian Indoors in Milan. Ivanisevic won 6-3, 7-6 (7-3) to earn the top prize of $128,000.

Jimmy Vasser passed Gil de Ferran on a restart with 32 laps to go in the season-opening Marlboro Grand Prix in Homestead, Fla., then drove away for his first Indy-car win in 56 starts. ...The New York Giants said they will match the San Francisco 48ers' six-year, $16.45 million offer to Rodney Hampton, their all-time leading rusher, and keep him on the team.
