AGOURA HILLS - The California Dance Theatre sent 62 hopeful dancers, ages 9-19, to the annual Dance Masters of America Southern California Southern California, also colloquially known as SoCal, is the southern portion of the U.S. state of California. Centered on the cities of Los Angeles and San Diego, Southern California is home to nearly 24 million people and is the nation's second most populated region,  titles and performing arts competition held last month in Huntington Beach Huntington Beach, city (1990 pop. 181,519), Orange co., S Calif., on the Pacific coast, across from Santa Catalina Island, in an oil-producing area; inc. 1909. It manufactures aerospace vehicles, aircraft parts, optical instruments, and heat transfer equipment. .

The school's competitive dance team, The Dance Connection, earned 14 first places for both individual and group performances.

``The dancers did an incredible job,'' said Lori Sorensen, administrative director of the California Dance Theatre. ``We went to the competition for the camaraderie and experience, and to do so well just made it that much more exciting.''

Highest points for choreography went to Danielsen for her rendition of ``Swanees,'' an innovative tap number to Tchaikovsky's swan quartet from ``Swan Lake Swan Lake (Russian: Лебединое Озеро, Lebedinoye Ozero, Swan Lake .'' Danielsen has also been recognized as a first-place choreographer by the national publication Dance Magazine.

Highest points honors in the group categories went to the dance number ``Moolah'' in the duo/trio category; ``Swanees'' in the group small line category, and ``A Hard Knock'' and ``Kansas City Kansas City, two adjacent cities of the same name, one (1990 pop. 149,767), seat of Wyandotte co., NE Kansas (inc. 1859), the other (1990 pop. 435,146), Clay, Jackson, and Platte counties, NW Mo. (inc. 1850).  Rollers'' in the large line production category.

Individual title winners were Kirsten Ihnat, 19, of Simi Valley Simi Valley (sē`mē, sĭm`ē), city (1990 pop. 100,217), Ventura co., SW Calif. in an oil, fruit, and farm region; laid out 1887, inc. 1969. , who won the Miss Dance award with her solo performance of ``Gotcha'' from the Broadway hit ``Fosse.'' Her number was choreographed by Roxanne Lee and Sherry Henderson.

Her sister, Annika Ihnat, 12, won the Junior Miss Dance title for her interpretation of ``I Am Woman'' from another Broadway hit, ``Smokey Joe's Cafe,'' choreographed by Roxanne Lee and Sherry Henderson. First Runner-Up for Miss Petite was won by London O'Donnell, 11, of Westlake Village.

The title of Miss Teen Dance was won by Ashley Feinsinger, 15, of Agoura Hills, with a tap presentation choreographed by Danielsen.

Title winners will go on to represent the Southern California Chapter of Dance Masters at the National Convention in New Orleans New Orleans (ôr`lēənz –lənz, ôrlēnz`), city (2006 pop. 187,525), coextensive with Orleans parish, SE La., between the Mississippi River and Lake Pontchartrain, 107 mi (172 km) by water from the river mouth; founded  this summer. The California Dance Theatre is located at 5863 Kanan Road in Agoura Hills. Classes are available for all ages and include ballet, jazz, tap and hip hop hip-hop   or hip hop
