for GRAMMY(R) Session on Tuesday, Dec. 12

A contingent of Dillard and Coral Park High School students will get a unique view of what goes into a music tour on Tuesday, Dec. 12, when famed Capitol Records Capitol Records is a major United States-based record label, owned by EMI, located in Hollywood, California. Its headquarters building, the Capitol Tower, is a major landmark near the corner of Hollywood and Vine.  sax player Dave Koz and recording artists Rick Braun, Brenda Russell and Peter White host the group at the soundcheck

A soundcheck is an activity that takes place before a concert, when the performer and the sound crew run through a small portion of the upcoming show, to make sure that the sound in the venue is clear and
 for Koz's annual Christmas tour.

GRAMMY Sessions -- one of many educational programs the GRAMMY Foundation implements -- enables students to interact with top recording artists through a variety of programs and music settings. The appearance is one of many being hosted by Dave Koz and friends on his 4th Annual Smooth Jazz Christmas Tour. The highly successful tour continues through Dec. 23.

In a question-and-answer setting, the artists will candidly address everything the students want to know -- from careers in the recording industry to issues about music, to the music itself. Past GRAMMY Sessions have been hosted by artists such as Squirrel Nut Zippers The Squirrel Nut Zippers are a Chapel Hill, North Carolina based Jazz band formed in 1993, who applied punk's DIY aesthetic to early 20th century American popular music. The band's name comes from the Squirrel Brand's Nut Zippers, a peanut and caramel candy for sale since the , Wynton Marsalis, Metallica, James Taylor, Shawn Colvin, Julio Iglesias, Yo-Yo Ma, Tony Bennett and Natalie Cole, among others.

The GRAMMY Foundation is a nonprofit arm of the Recording Academy(R) dedicated to advancing music and arts education across the country. The Foundation implements an arc of educational programs and services designed to cultivate understanding, appreciation and advancement of music and arts for all ages.
