: WHAT TO WATCH.A Life of Grime A Life of Grime (play on the expression A Life of Crime) is a BBC docusoap following the work of environmental health inspectors. But in Salford it is a never ending nightmare. Fighting a daily battle with the city's spray-can delinquents are grime-busting duo Ian and Duane. Textured Lives (HTV, 11.30pm) Dust down that stetson and put a gun in your holster for The Westerners in this week's episode of Textured Lives. Director Joe Wattleworth's portrait of the Western Welsh shows a group of people dedicated to bringing back memories of El Paso and old Santos. So, deep in the heart of Tenby he finds hundreds of folk gathering for a twice yearly hoedown hoe·down n. 1. A square dance. 2. The music for a square dance. 3. A social gathering at which square dancing takes place. complete with shoot-outs, fast draw competitions and bluegrass music. And down the road in Cwmbran he meets members of the El Paso club, including cowboys like Bernard Foward and Owen Skuse. The Tenby festival is country and western bliss for these guys as it is a way of indulging their fantasies of living the old American way. |
