PHOENIX TECHNOLOGIES COMPLETES PURCHASE OF SYNTREX
EATONTOWN, N.J., June 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Syntrex Incorporated (NYSE: STRX) announced today that Phoenix Technologies, Inc., Valley Forge, Pa., has closed on the transaction to acquire the assets and rights to the Syntrex business. Phoenix Technologies has formed a wholly owned subsidiary -- Syntrex Technologies, Inc., based in Eatontown, focused on the fast growing network systems integration marketplace.
"Syntrex has already demonstrated its ability to capture market share in the systems integration marketplace. Its recent ranking in the top 50 most successful systems integrators in the United States, as reported in the May 25 issue of Systems & Network Integration, demonstrates the company's ability to get its share of the business," stated V.N. Tirendi, president and CEO of Phoenix Technologies. "With the backing of Phoenix Technologies, and the synergy between the two companies, we expect Syntrex Technologies, Inc. to rapidly move up the ranks in the next five years."
Combined, the companies cover more than 60 cities, with over 600 network systems engineers nationwide. They include certified engineers, instructors, and specialists for all the major networking product providers, including Novell, Banyan, Microsoft, NetFRAME, Compaq, IBM, and many more.
"We believe Syntrex Technologies, Inc. will be the major force in the network systems integration marketplace," said Dan Sinnott, who has been named to head up the new subsidiary. "Combining forces with Phoenix positions us today as the fourth largest network systems integrator, if the LAN Magazine survey were to published today." Syntrex had ranked number 12 among the top 100 network systems integrators by LAN Magazine earlier this year. "Syntrex is a recognized leader in the field of network integration, with partnerships with all the key network product providers. Most important, however, is the high rating our customers give us for the level of support and quality of services we offer nationwide," Sinnott added.
The two companies' professional service strategies are highly complementary. Phoenix Technologies is the professional service organization to one of the nation's largest on-line financial information networks, comprising over 60,000 workstations and integrated computer installations. Syntrex's significant presence in the commercial, government and legal industries opens new market opportunities for Phoenix Technologies.
Syntrex Technologies, Inc. is a national network systems integrator specializing in the design, implementation, and support of networks for the commercial, government, and legal industries. Syntrex has installed over 6,500 networks in the United States, with particular emphasis upon departmental and enterprise-wide networks. Founded in 1988 and privately held, Phoenix Technologies, Inc. provides a full range of services, including nationwide professional service and support for networks of on-line transaction processing, telecommunications and data processing equipment; repair and refurbishment services; and custom manufacturing and product distribution services.
