THIS is supposed to be a Christian country. I applaud Iris for standing up for Christian moral values. The world would be a better place if we all did.

Elaine, Belfast

I HAVE never heard anything so bad from someone in authority before, it's deplorable. No doubt she will be made equality minister in the near future. Never going to vote DUP DUP (in Northern Ireland) Democratic Unionist Party  again.

Paul, Kinallen

I AM not a fan of Mrs Robinson. But she only quoted the words of the Bible, not hers.

Billy, Bangor

IRIS is being attacked by the thought police in the politically correct politically correct Politically sensitive adjective Referring to language reflecting awareness and sensitivity to another person's physical, mental, cultural, or other disadvantages or deviations from a norm; a person is not mentally retarded, but  lobby. There is no moral equivalence between homosexuality and heterosexuality het·er·o·sex·u·al·i·ty

Erotic attraction, predisposition, or sexual behavior between persons of the opposite sex.

and she is entitled to believe this.

Willie, Belfast

HOW do the Robinsons square that circle? He condemns homophobic attacks while she attacks those that are gay by calling their choice an abomination. Take her to a hospital to get her gob stitched up. Sorted.

Mark, Lisburn

IRIS Robinson is 100 per cent scripturally correct in what she says regarding homosexuality and forgiveness. Were she a Muslim I doubt this fuss would be made.

Robert Ludlow, Lurgan

AS a Christian I say Amen to the stand Iris is taking against the witchhunt to silence the Bible. Any Christian who fails to say Amen needs to re-examine whether they be in the faith or not.

R Luke

IT just goes to show how our society has changed so much in that people are ridiculed for believing and taking a stand for the Lord's gospel message. This woman has firm Christian beliefs and is rightly unashamed un·a·shamed

Feeling or showing no remorse, shame, or embarrassment:

 of them.

William, Castlewellan

WASN'T it Ghandi who said "I would be a Christian if it wasn't for the Christians". What shocks me is that she believes she is right under God's word. She knows little about who or what God is.

Gary Tate, Belfast

I think what Iris Robinson said about gays is terrible. My sister is gay and I wouldn't put her in the same class as murderers. She should be ashamed of what she said and retract TO RETRACT. To withdraw a proposition or offer before it has been accepted.
     2. This the party making it has a right to do is long as it has not been accepted; for no principle of law or equity can, under these circumstances, require him to persevere in it.
what she said. What about live and let live?

Joanne, Portadown

FAIR play to Iris Robinson for bringing this topic up about gays. Men and women are meant to be together, not man and man nor women and women, it's God's will.

Big Ian, Belfast

I'm a Sinn Fein voter and I agree that whether you murder, steal, are homosexual or break the word of God, that all sin breaks God's heart. I think Mrs Robinson could have kept her opinion private. Let God be their judge because every last one of us is his child.

J Smyth, Belfast

IRIS lives in a world of her own. God says love thy neighbour. Homosexuality is not a sin. Maybe God will forgive her, but I hope the law doesn't and she is prosecuted.

Reader, Co Antrim

IRIS Robinson should keep her homophobic views to herself. Likening her views to the word of God is blasphemy blasphemy, in religion, words or actions that display irreverence toward or contempt for God or that which is held sacred. Blasphemy is regarded as an offense against the community to varying degrees, depending on the extent of the identification of a religion with . Who is she to judge? People don't choose to be gay.

David, Limavady

I SUPPORT Iris Robinson. The Bible is the true word of God. It is used in the courts, it is the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

Sam Robinson, Newtownabbey

IRIS Robinson could do well to keep her opinions to herself, and see open views towards homosexuality as a sign of the times A Sign of the Times was a 1966 single by Petula Clark. Written by Tony Hatch, the uptempo pop number juxtaposed Clark's driving vocals with a powerful brass section. She introduced the tune on the Ed Sullivan Show on February 27, 1966.  we live in, not try to insult people's beliefs.

James, Omagh

IRIS is right. Would all you whingers get a life. You can't always gag Christians unless you burn us all at the stake.

David, Portadown

I COME from Shaw's Bridge, Edenderry and we are tortured with gays hiding in hedges. Kids can't go for a walk on their own.

Gary McComb, South Belfast

SOME people only stick to the parts of the Bible that suits them. It also says it's not our place to judge. Read the whole lot Iris.
