(SPO) TURKEY WINS MEDALS IN INTERNATIONAL JUNIOR JUDO TOURNAMENT.


ISTANBUL, Mar 23, 2009 (TUR) -- Turkey won medals in an international junior judo tournament on Saturday.

Turkey won 14 medals in the 16th International Junior Marmara Judo Tournament that began in the Turkish city of Istanbul on Saturday.

Turkish women judoists won three gold, three silver and four bronze medals, while men judoists won two gold, one silver and two bronze medals on the first day of the two-day tournament.

Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), Croatia, Bulgaria, Syria, Romania, Azerbaijan, Iran, Belarus, Moldova, Montenegro, Armenia, Greece, Georgia, Albania, Turkmenistan and Serbia are also participating in the event.

The tournament will end on Sunday.
