(GEN) TURKISH VOLUNTEER DOCTORS IN AFGHANISTAN.


SHEBERGHAN, Apr 28, 2009 (TUR tur: see ibex. ) -- A group of Turkish volunteer doctors has examined and treated nearly 3 thousand people in five different provinces of Afghanistan The Provinces of Afghanistan (locally recognized as wilayats) are the primary political subdivisions of Afghanistan. There are currently thirty-four (34) provinces in the country, with four having been added between 2001 and 2004.  as well as 133 children in the orphanages in Takhar and Sheberghan.

The health initiative was launched by the Turkish International Cooperation Agency (TIKA Tika can be:
  • A Nepalese name for Tilaka
  • A title in certain Indian monarchies for a Crown Prince
  • A place in Abkhazia
  • A place on Saturn's satellite Rhea, named after the last place
) in cooperation with several non-governmental organizations to provide Afghan people with free medical examination.

A Turkish charity organization will send clothes, blankets, sheets, shoes and foodstuff for the children in the orphanages soon.
