(GEN) TURKISH AGRICULTURE MINISTER MEETS IRAQI COUNTERPART.ANKARA, Sep 17, 2009 (TUR tur: see ibex. ) -- Turkish Agriculture Minister Mehdi Eker met Thursday with his Iraqi counterpart Akram al-Hakim as part of a ministerial meeting of the Turkey-Iraq Strategic Cooperation Council in Istanbul. Eker and al-Hakim discussed issues such as water resources, irrigation irrigation, in agriculture, artificial watering of the land. Although used chiefly in regions with annual rainfall of less than 20 in. (51 cm), it is also used in wetter areas to grow certain crops, e.g., rice. and stockbreeding stock·breed·ing n. country's willingness to cooperate on the water problem as well as

The two ministers also decided during their meeting to sign agreements on agricultural technology, crop protection and animal health. The agreement are expected to be signed at a later date in Baghdad.
