(GEN) SEVEN POLICE OFFICERS INJURED IN SHOOTOUT WITH TERRORISTS.


ISTANBUL, Apr 27, 2009 (TUR tur: see ibex. ) -- Seven police officers were injured during operations against the far-leftist, separatists and radical organizations in Istanbul, Governor Muammer Guler said.

When security forces raided a house belonged to a member of an illegal organization, person(s) in the house threw a bomb injuring three officers. It was claimed that there could be one or two people in the house. We also received a tip-off that there is a large quantity of explosives. In a second explosion, four more officers were wounded. They were rushed to nearby hospitals. One of them seems to be in critical condition," Guler said.

He said that security forces seized a number of explosives, bombs, weapons and ammunition during the operations but he did not specify names of the groups.

Meanwhile, a cameraman and a citizen were also injured in operation in the Kadikoy district when terrorist(s) opened fire on press members.
