(GEN) CHIEF NEGOTIATOR BAGIS ATTENDS CERTIFICATE CEREMONY OF JEAN MONNET SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM.


ANKARA Ankara (ăng`kərə, Turk. äng`kärä), city (1990 pop. 2,533,209), capital of Turkey and Ankara prov., W central Turkey, at an elevation of c.3,000 ft (910 m). , Nov 21, 2009 (TUR tur: see ibex. ) -- Turkish State Minister and Chief Negotiator for EU talks, Egemen Bagis, participated Friday in the certificate ceremony of the Jean Monnet Noun 1. Jean Monnet - French economist who advocated a Common Market in Europe (1888-1979)
Monnet
 scholarship program 2008-2009 term in Ankara.

Speaking at the ceremony, Bagis said that "Turkey has become more democratic, affluent, free and transparent today. The EU process made great contributions to what Turkey has become".

Those who used (Jean Monnet) scholarships have important knowledge on the EU. Turkey needs experts on the EU, Bagis stressed.

Marc Pierini, head of the Delegation of the European Commission to Turkey, also attended the ceremony.

Bagis and Pierini presented the certificates to the recipients of scholarships.
