Jean Monnet - French economist who advocated a Common Market in Europe (1888-1979) Monnet scholarship program 2008-2009 term in Ankara. Speaking at the ceremony, Bagis said that "Turkey has become more democratic, affluent, free and transparent today. The EU process made great contributions to what Turkey has become". Those who used (Jean Monnet) scholarships have important knowledge on the EU. Turkey needs experts on the EU, Bagis stressed. Marc Pierini, head of the Delegation of the European Commission to Turkey, also attended the ceremony. Bagis and Pierini presented the certificates to the recipients of scholarships.
