(ECO) YILDIZ HOLDING BECOMES MEMBER OF CIAA LIAISON COMMITTEE.ISTANBUL, Aug 25, 2009 (TUR tur: see ibex. ) -- Turkey's Yildiz Holding became the 21st member of the Liaison Committee The Liaison Committee is a topical committee of the British House of Commons, the lower house of the United Kingdom Parliament. It includes the Chairmen of the 30 Select Committees. of the Confederation A union of states in which each member state retains some independent control over internal and external affairs. Thus, for international purposes, there are separate states, not just one state. of Food and Drink Industries of the EU (CIAA CIAA abbr. Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association ). Yildiz Holding released a statement on Tuesday and said the Holding applied in December 2008 to become a member of the committee and the application was approved in the General Assembly meeting. The statement said Mehmet Tutuncu, president of the Food and Beverage F&B is a common abbreviation in the United States and Commonwealth countries, including Hong Kong. F&B is typically the widely accepted abbreviation for "Food and Beverage," which is the sector/industry that specializes in the conceptualization, the making of, and delivery of foods. Division, would represent Yildiz Holding in the committee. The statement said Yildiz Holding from now on would have the right to say in decisions and lobbying activities carried out for scientific, economic and legal development of European food industry. 25 international federations, three observers and 30 sector associations are members of the Liaison Committee. Companies eager to become a member of CIAA Liaison Committee should have more than one billion euro annual turnover, a center in Europe and commercial ties at least with five European countries. CIAA's mission is to represent the food and drink industries' interests, at the level of both European and international institutions. In order to fulfil its mission, CIAA participates pro-actively in the development of an environment where all European food and drink companies (whatever their size) can compete effectively for sustainable growth in the context of an enlarged EU and global markets, as well as meeting consumers? needs and playing their part in delivering the targets set by the Lisbon declaration of the European Council European Council, a consultative branch of the governing body of the European Union (EU). It is composed of the heads of government of the EU nations and their foreign ministers, in conjunction with the president and two additional members from the European ? that is, to become the most competitive economy in the world by 2010. Moreover, CIAA contributes to the development of a legislative and economic framework addressing competitiveness, food quality and safety, consumer information and respect for the environment as regards the food and drink industry.
