(ECO) TURKEY RAISES AMOUNT OF WATER IT GIVES TO IRAQ.


BAGHDAD, Jun 29, 2009 (TUR tur: see ibex. ) -- Turkey raised the amount of water it was giving to Iraq, an Iraqi ministry said on Sunday.

The Iraqi Ministry of Water Resources Ministry of Water Resources (Chinese: 水利部 Pinyin: shuǐlì bù) is the executive government agency of the Central People's Government responsible for managing the water resources in China.  said that Turkey raised the amount of water it was giving to Iraq.

"Turkey raised the flow of the River Firat (Euphrates) to 570 cubic meters Noun 1. cubic meter - a metric unit of volume or capacity equal to 1000 liters
cubic metre, kiloliter, kilolitre

metric capacity unit - a capacity unit defined in metric terms
 per second," the ministry said.

In its statement, the Iraqi Ministry expressed hope that Turkey would increase more the amount of water it water it was giving to Iraq.

Also, Turkey raised the flow of River Firat from 130 to 360 cubic meters per second at the end of May.
