(ECO) TURKEY EXPORTS MOST BEER TO IRAQ.


ANKARA, Nov 2, 2009 (TUR) -- Turkey began to export most beer to Iraq after UN embargo on this country was lifted.

Iraq ranked the top in Turkey's beer export in 2008 with 22.1 million USD USD

. Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC TRNC Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus ) is on the second rank with 6.7 million USD, UAE on third with 4.3 million USD, and Azerbaijan on the fourth rank with 3.6 million USD.

According to reports of Export Promotion Center (IGEME IGEME Ihracatý Geliþtirme Etüd Merkezi (Export Promotion Center of Turkey) ), beer is on top in Turkey's export of alcoholic beverages. Turkey's beer export increased seven percent in 2007 (when compared to 2006), and rose 35 percent in 2008.

Bahrain, Lebanon, Canada and Briatin are the other countries Turkey exports beer.

 (a Turkish traditional drink) is the second most exported alcoholic beverage. It was exported to several EU countries --especially the ones where Turkish people were living. Germany is in top in raki export with 9.49 million USD, followed by TRNC with 8.28 million USD, France with 807,000 USD, and Switzerland with 549,000 USD in 2008.

Turkey's wine export dropped 13.5 percent in 2008 when compared to 2007. The most wine export was made to Belgium with 2.14 million USD, followed by TRNC with 2.02 million USD and Germany with 1.18 million USD.
