(ECO) TURKEY, GEORGIA TO ESTABLISH ELECTRICITY TRANSMISSION LINE.


ANKARA, Jul 30, 2009 (TUR tur: see ibex. ) -- Turkey and Georgia Georgia, country, Asia
Georgia (jôr`jə), Georgian Sakartvelo, Rus. Gruziya, officially Republic of Georgia, republic (2005 est. pop. 4,677,000), c.26,900 sq mi (69,700 sq km), in W Transcaucasia.
 will establish an electricity transmission line, the Turkish energy minister said on Wednesday.

Turkey's Energy and Natural Resources Minister Taner Yildiz said that Turkey and Georgia would establish 1,000-megawatts of "Borchka-Meskhetian" electricity transmission line.

Yildiz signed the related agreement with his Georgian counterpart counterpart n. in the law of contracts, a written paper which is one of several documents which constitute a contract, such as a written offer and a written acceptance.  Alexander Khetaguri in the Turkish capital of Ankara.

"130 kilometers of the line will be in Turkey, and 25 kilometers will be in Georgia," Yildiz said during the signature ceremony.

Yildiz said the two-way transmission line would cost about 140 million USD USD

"We aim to conclude the project in 2012," Yildiz said.

Also speaking in the ceremony, Khetaguri said that this line would help transmitting excessive electricity generated in Georgia to Turkey and then to Europe via Turkey.

Khetaguri also said electricity from other Caspian countries and Azerbaijan could be transferred through the line.
