(ECO) TCDD TO DOUBLE HIGH-SPEED TRAIN SERVICES BETWEEN ANKARA AND ESKISEHIR.


ANKARA, Jul 13, 2009 (TUR tur: see ibex. ) -- The Turkish railways administration will introduce further high-speed train services between the capital Ankara and Central Anatolian city of Eskisehir, an executive of the Turkish State Railways Turkish Republic State Railways (TCDD, Türkiye Cumhuriyeti Devlet Demiryolları) is the state corporation that operates the public railway system in Turkey. The number of high-speed train services between Ankara and Eskisehir will rise from 13 to 20 in September, TCDD director general Suleyman Karaman told AA correspondent.

Karaman said that Turkey had purchased new high-speed train sets from Spain, and the administration had completed test drives.

Karaman said the high-speed train service would be increased in parallel with rise in number of train sets.

Turkey launched high-speed train service between Ankara and Eskisehir with three train sets on March 13. The high-speed trains lowered the 180-minute train voyage between the two cities to almost 80 minutes.

The other train set purchased from Spain was brought to Turkey last month, and will be put into service between the two cities at the end of July.

"Two more train sets will be in Turkey today. They will start to be used in September," Karaman also said.

Karaman said that the administration had completed construction of high-speed train railway between Sincan town and Esenkent neighborhood of Ankara, and the Ankara municipality MUNICIPALITY. The body of officers, taken collectively, belonging to a city, who are appointed to manage its affairs and defend its interests.  was working on the level crossing in downtown Sincan.

The director general also said that after the level crossing works were completed, the test drives between Sincan and Esenkent would be made and the railway would start to be used for high-speed train services in September.

Turkey started building high-speed rail High-speed rail is a type of passenger rail transport that operates significantly faster than the normal speed of rail traffic. Specific definitions include 200-320 km/h (125-200 mph) - depending on whether the track is upgraded or new - by the European Union and above 90 mph  lines in 2003. The project will link capital Ankara to Istanbul. The first phase of the project was the line between Ankara and Eskisehir.

When high speed train project is fully completed, travel time will be 3 hours between Ankara and Istanbul, which is currently 6 hours and 30 minutes.

The TCDD purchased first high-speed train sets, with a maximum speed of 250 kilometers per hour, from Spain's CAF CAF - constant applicative form  company in 2007.
