(ECO) SLOVAKIAN PRESIDENT SEES SIGNIFICANT OPPORTUNITY TO IMPROVE COOPERATION WITH TURKEY.


BRATISLAVA, Nov 3, 2009 (TUR tur: see ibex. ) -- The Slovakian president foresaw on Monday significant opportunities to boost cooperation with Turkey.

Slovakia's President Ivan Gasparovic said there were really significant opportunities to enhance economic cooperation between Slovakia and Turkey.

During the Turkish-Slovakian Business Forum in Bratislava, Gasparovic said Turkish and Slovakian businessmen could make joint investments in other countries.

, who is paying a formal visit to Slovakia, also participated in the meeting.

Gasparovic said Slovakia was supporting the Nabucco project aiming to carry natural gas from Central Asian republics Central Asian Republics, the countries of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan. Constituent republics of the former Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, they all achieved independence in late 1991.  to Europe.

During his speech, Gasparovic reaffirmed his support to Turkey's European Union (EU) membership bid.

Gasparovic also said he hoped two countries could hold economic cooperation meetings under the roof of the EU in the near future.
