(DIP) TURKISH, ALBANIAN PREMIERS APPEAR IN JOINT PRESS MEETING.TIRANA, Jun 25, 2009 (TUR tur: see ibex. ) -- Turkish and Albanian prime ministers held a joint press conference on Thursday in the Albanian capital, Tirana, after attending the opening ceremony of a motorway that connects Kosovo and Albania. Turkish Premier Recep Tayyip Erdogan said he was pleased to attend the inauguration ceremony of the motorway, adding that relations between Turkey and Albania had been developing in all fields over the last years. "We are pleased to be here for the opening of the motorway and I would like to congratulate my counterpart for this great achievement," Erdogan said. The 61-km highway, which was constructed by a consortium of a U.S. contractor and the Turkish firm, ENKA, is a key connection between Kosovo and the Durres Port, Albania's primary harbor on the Adriatic Sea Adriatic Sea (ādrēă`tĭk), arm of the Mediterranean Sea, between Italy and the Balkan Peninsula. It extends c.500 mi (800 km) from the Gulf of Venice, at its head, SE to the Strait of Otranto, which leads to the Ionian Sea. .
